Bead Crafts & More!

Been a while since my last post here. I've been busy with my new site for my online business. It's still a work of progress. I have asked a professional designer though to help me with the new look. As of this writing, she's in the stage of drafting the layout. Hopefully, next week, it would be finalized. I'm so excited!

I am also busy making more items, so my clients will have a lot of choices. Christmas season is fast approaching. How I wish more ladies are going to receive them as gifts.

Also, I am planning to sell raw materials for jewelry making. I hope to launch it real soon.

This is all for now!

Back Again!

I'm finally back to blogging again (after a haitus of about 4 months)! I've been busy with my new hobby, which eventually, became my little business now. I finally put my interest, knowledge and skills in beaded/fashion jewelry making to use. I am enjoying it and yes, I have sold a few pieces already!

Fried Okra

I finally made the fried okra recipe. I had it for lunch today! I first heard about it when a high school friend mention it on facebook. I got curious, so I looked it up in the internet. It is such a very simple recipe and yet, it is really good.

I plated it and took a picture...for souvenir =)

Fabric glue...

Went to the mall today and I was so tired from walking around. I feel so frustrated because I wasn't able to buy the number 1 item on my list! I need to have the curtains on my kitchen windows sewed already... but I can't find somebody to sew them... and I'm not really in the mood to do it myself. I thought of doing it myself at first, to save money but I am just not into sewing projects at this time. I've been putting it off for quite sometime now and I'm running out of time. Our houseguests will be here very soon! So anyway, I thought of trying out that fabric glue that says "No Sew". I've seen it in expressions and other stores. But to my frustration, it did not exist in the stores today. Even the sales personnel doesn't seem to know about it! What's so frustrating is that, I just saw it there last week! Good thing my right side of the brain got to work and an idea popped up... I'll just tape them using double sided tape! I hope it will work! Off to bed now... I'm so tired and sleepy!

Tired and sleepy...

I'm so tired and sleepy! Tuesdays and Fridays are market day here in our place and I do my marketing on those days. I woke up early and went to the market, so that I could be home before the sun is up in the part of our yard that I am working on. I finished it already...after 3 mornings!

Callos and other firsts...

I cooked Callos for lunch today...first time and more of a testing. It's just alright, looks and tastes like Callos!

Today, I bought pork liver and it's also a first time... When I saw it in the market, I suddenly craved for fried pork liver that my mama and grandpa used to cook. My first time also to clean and slice an innard, and it went just fine!

I think, what I still can't really do is clean a live fish or any other seafoods!

My Mama's birthday!

Today is mama's birthday! I missed the celebration in Bacolod. Sis said they're having valenciana...it's my favorite and I really miss it! To celebrate in my own little way, I cooked spaghetti with chicken ala king sauce. I made it extra hot and spicy by adding red pepper flakes.

Weather...weather!

The weather is really unpredictable! Just as I went outside to do something at our yard, it suddenly rained. So, I went inside, sat down in front of my laptop and open the net. Then, the rain stopped... I think it's safe to go outside now...will have to go back here later...

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right... Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

My new diet snack...

Since I’m on a diet (starting when...until when? I don't know hahaha!), I decided to have that new Whole Wheat Crackers from Rebisco as my snack. It’s fine by itself, but having them everyday makes it kind of boring to eat anymore. So, I made a simple “dip” to go with it. Just a little mayonnaise – miracle whip because it claims to have lesser fat – and freshly snipped chives. I am thinking a sandwich spread would be nice because it has pickle relish in it, I just don’t know yet if there is one with less fat. The chives gave it a garlicky taste and it’s so “herb-eliciously” good! Hmmm…looking forward to my afternoon snack…

My recipe for succesful cooking...

Since I started cooking, I realized that the following are needed to make it successful!

1. Right and sufficient ingredients (of course!)
2. Common sense
3. Love and care for those who will eat them
4. Passion for cooking
5. Practice (So true, practice makes perfect!)

Now I know why in country magazines, recipes for spreads and jams are always featured. They are such a joy to make. There is the anticipation of how the finish product comes out. And when it comes out just right, you’ll be proud of yourself. If not, well, there is such a thing as next time and by then, you’ll know what to do.

The first cheese spread I made tasted like pizza flavor!
My fresh tomato jam was fine, although it’s not that sweet (the way Ilonggos like)!
