Tea Wallet Surprise!

I recently signed up for a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) give-away for some flavored tea (Celestial Seasonings) at the forum in Swap-bot. I was lucky enough to win the draw. When I opened the envelope, I was expecting just the teabags but I was surprised that they came in a tea wallet! I've seen these tea wallets in tea swaps before and surely they're fun to have. It was really so kind of the host (@kittylover) to send her give-away in those. When I thanked her, she said she's glad I liked it. I did and I'm sure who wouldn't!

Falling for "Tea Time"!

As of this posting, I consider myself a novice tea drinker! I always ask my husband to bring three boxes of tea when he comes home from his work abroad. One box for my mother, the other box for my father-in-law and the the third box for us. I don't drink it much, only when I am having gas in my stomach. One day, my husband told me to try putting milk in my tea. It did taste good, but then I was still not convinced to drink it more.

I am a coffee drinker and I usually have it during breakfast and in the afternoon. Last November, I decided to drink coffee only once a day. I have also decided that month that I will not drink cold beverages. So, I thought of having hot tea with milk instead. I was alone and it actually made me feel so relax! I feel like I am really having my little "me time" moment!

I was able to drink three flavored tea only and I like them too!

Ginger

I am a facebook follower of Wai Lana, a popular Yoga and Natural Health advocate.

Wai Lana's Kitchen tip of the day: Besides lending zest, vitality, warmth, and energy to fruit and vegetable juices alike, ginger helps conditions like asthma, cough, cold, congestion, flu, high cholesterol, water retention, nausea, irregular or painful menstruation, constipation, and poor circulation.

Here's a simple recipe of Wai Lana's ginger tea (from her post Ginger for Winter Ills, Oct. 16, 2009):

2 cups water
¼ cup diced fresh ginger
2 tsp. honey

Boil the water, then add the ginger and simmer for about 20 minutes. Strain into a cup and add 2 teaspoons of honey (or to taste). If you like, you can add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and a pinch of cayenne pepper to the pot to increase the stimulating, heating effect. Let me forewarn you now, though: This tea is fiery! Sip it—don't gulp it down.

Iya and Me... Having Tea!

Iya and Me...
Having Tea!

Talking ‘bout life
And being a wife.
We talk about problems
And how we can solve them.

We talk about kids
Wishing we also have our own to kiss.
We will be great moms
If only our babies would come.

We’re getting older
So our worries grow stronger.
We want to be mommies
And our hubbies daddies.

It would make our lives sweeter
And make us feel better.
How we wish baby
We’ll also have you one day.

I made this poem for my friend Iya. We were exchanging e-mails about our thoughts and feelings about not getting pregnant, then I saw a country graphic that shows two women having tea. I thought of naming the graphic as Iya and Me... having tea. It rhymed! So, I was inspired to add another line, and then another, until I was able to make it a poem.
